SEATTLE CLOUD COVER by Teresita Fernandez
Teresita Fernandez

2004-2006, laminated glass with photographic interlayer, 9 feet 6 inches by 200 feet by 6 feet 3 inches. SAM acquisition funds. This glass bridge-adornment was commissioned from Fernández received a MacArthur Foundation "genius" fellowship in 2005. She often incorporates primal images from nature, such as fire and water, in her subtle installations. Here her cloud design plays off the Seattle stereotype of continual overcast while at the same time projecting a burst of vibrant color on the grayest of days. At night, illuminated with electric lights, "Seattle Cloud Cover" glows warml.

The Olympic Sculpture Park transforms a nine-acre industrial site into open and vibrant green space for art. This new waterfront park gives Seattle residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a variety of sculpture in an outdoor setting, while enjoying the incredible views and beauty of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound. The Olympic Sculpture Park is owned and maintained by the Seattle Art Museum.Admission is free.
I served as an Ambassidor at OSP over ten years and worked mainly at the Vivarium. These are some of my fond memories of the time I spent there.
